BetterEvaluation is one of my favourite “go to” websites for evaluation resources.  This site has a wealth of current resources, blogs and tools that have been submitted, tried and tested by evaluators from around the world.

When their blog post: BetterEvaluation 2018 Holiday Reading List came out, I resolved to read the recommended resources and to pass on my thoughts on these.

Taking a methodical approach, I started with the first resource listed: Evaluation Building Blocks – A Guide.

My take: I like it.  In 21 visually appealing and easy to read pages, the authors describe each step in the evaluation process, providing key questions to consider at each step and additional guidance further explaining the step.  Additional references are included for those of us who like to dive deeper. I highly recommend this as a lunch hour read for evaluators and for non-evaluators.  Add this free, downloadable guide to your resource library – I have.

Another guidebook I particularly like is “A Guide to Evaluation in Health Research” by Dr. Sarah Bowen. Published online by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, this guide is a nice blend of theory and application.
